Squarinthecircle? - Joolz Cave-Berry
(handbag size card boat which has been through post)
The metaphor is the boat - a series of vessels with unique features and cargos. The works are very personal autobiographic pieces initially, which later develops and abstracts my agenda, exploring systems and processes that we have inherited. The 'baggage' vessels test the postal systems ability to cope with objects outside their normal terms of reference and relates to the systems that affect old contemporary lives - education, communication, politics and social conditions.
I want to work in the artistic environment of the School of Art in order to further development of my creative practice and finalise ongoing projects with a view to exhibiting. I am keen to both share and gain insight and inspiration through interaction with students, staff and colleagues and wish to move forward in my working, artistic and personal life. I want to hone and develop my creative skills and build my own confidence and self-esteem, whilst sharing skills and experience with students, particularly those who also have dyslexia.
I would like to mount an exhibition of the works I create, whilst working at the School of Art and expand my networks to a broader audience across the region, through effective marketing of my work. I am keen to immerse myself in the creative environment and gain stimulus for development of my creative practice and myself.
