Squarinthecircle? - Jon Adams
Jon's work explores sense and sensitivity through the hidden and plays with perceptions of ‘normal' and the inaccessible. He transforms or repositions simple everyday language, objects and experiences to hide or reveal perceptions beliefs or to convey messages.
"My early experiences as having undiagnosed dyslexia and Asperger's syndrome as well as being an abused and bullied student have had a marked impact on my creative work.
They have both facilitated withdrawal into the private world of successful commercial illustration for twenty years whilst also creating a profound understanding on the hidden and un-revealed which has emerged as a unique fine art practice.
My recent fine art practice draws upon a wide range of materials and processes which include photography, video, sound recording and digital sound and visual manipulation, 3D installations, traditional sculpture and illustration.
As well as being research Fellow in Disability Arts within CCI at the University of Portsmouth, work has been commissioned by national organisations and I enjoy a close relationship with the Arts Council of England, DadaSouth, galleries and disability organisations in Southern England."
Jon Adams is also one of Dada-South's Dada-Exchange Artist Advisors. Read more about Jon and find out about Dada-Exchange.
