Realise!* business skills, ideas, inventions, creative enterprise, professional development
Realise! will create and deliver a comprehensive programme of opportunities for young disabled people through which they will be able to develop their entrepreneurial and enterprising abilities. This will include:
Workshops: to develop skills and explore opportunities
Events: including networking opportunities, showcasing and celebratory events
Peer support: through peer leadership sessions
Work placements: with businesses across a range of industries in the South East, particularly those with an international presence
Disability-awareness training: for all participating businesses and organisations to help create a culture shift
Accredited qualifications: for participating individuals
Small bursaries and grants: for organisations and individuals to develop a specific piece of development work that reflects the aims of Realise!
Continued development pathways: including disabled entrants for competitive events including Reaching for Gold and World Skills; further training and education for the participants
Realise! opportunities will encompass an international link for each participant. This will be facilitated through, for example, the CCCeCommunity, peer networks, cultural exchanges and profiling / celebratory events.
Realise! will:
Involve at least 20 young disabled people in the South East and at least 20 of their compatriots in other competitor countries in 2010, increasing to 50 in the years 2011 and 2012Involve at least 2 international corporations with a presence in the South East in 2010, increasing to 4 in 2011 and 6 in 2012
Create a legacy of improved representation of young disabled people in businesses in the South East
Increase the number of young disabled people in the South East developing their own enterprises
Help businesses to address their responsibilities around equal opportunities and achieve cultural change within their organisation
Realise! is a project being delivered by Creative Junction working in partnership with Dada-South as part of the Create Compete Collaborate (CCC) and Accentuate* programmes.
*Realise! is part of Accentuate, a transformational programme of 15 projects, inspired by the Paralympic Movement, which seeks to change perceptions and offer opportunities to showcase the talents of deaf and disabled people. Accentuate is funded by Legacy Trust UK which is creating a cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, SEEDA and the regional cultural agencies. Screen South is the home of Accentuate.
