A series of creative caeers advice sessions for young people Dada-South - the disability arts development agency for the south-east region - is delighted to have received a £12K award from Find Your Talent in the PUSH (Partnership for Urban South Hampshire) region to develop a Dada-Exchange Pilot initiative. This project will provide informed, accessible, and bespoke continuing professional development and careers advice for disabled and Deaf young people aged 14 - 19yrs led by disabled and Deaf artists with established careers and profiles in the arts. Utilising the sucessful model of Dada-Exchange that Dada-South has been delivering across the SE region, the PUSH Pilot programme aims to engage with disabled and Deaf young people in schools, colleges, and youth settings to offer exposure to positive role models, successful artists managing careers and impairment and the Disability and Deaf Arts sector. The programme will offer 5 seminars in 2 colleges, 2 schools and 1 youth setting from Sept 2009 - Jan 2010, led by disabled Artist Advisors. The seminars will target 100 disabled and Deaf young people aged 14 - 19yrs with the aim of providing information and inspiration regarding careers in the arts and opportunities for working in the cultural and creative sector. In addition to these seminars disabled young people will be invited to apply to join Dada-Exchange with the aim of 10 young people being fed into the main programme to receive 1year support, advice and guidance with a dedicated Artist Advisor. This programme presents a unique opportunity for disabled young people to gain excellent opportunities to explore their potential as artists, arts leaders, creative and cultural ambassadors and also exposes them to a wealth of experience, inspiration and positive role models, provided by Dada-South's team of highly professional disabled Artist Advisors.
