New Writing South: Writers at Work scheme
Writers stimulate the imagination, provoke discussion and inspire a more creative use of language. Inviting a writer into your workplace can be fun, productive and prove a real asset for your company.
New Writing South has ten years of experience working with professional writers throughout the south east, and are experts at what does and doesn't work when it comes to writing.
Writers at Work offers some time away from your desk to rediscover your creative voice, challenge the way you communicate at work and feel connected with language. The scheme offers the tools to feel confident to move away from the jargon and start enjoying using words again.
Writers at Work is a shared experience and may bring other benefits. It can strengthen work relationships, help team building, inspire new ways of working and help humanise your workplace in a meaningful and lasting way. At the very least it will spark something different to talk about with your colleagues and clients.

decibel Performing Arts Showcase 2011 - call to artists
The application process is now open for decibel Performing Arts Showcase 2011. Submissions are welcome from all artists and companies with diverse practice. This bi-annual event promotes diverse practice in the performing arts sector and aims to more fully repesent and reflect the different cultures and backgrounds that make our country unique in the world.
The decibel Performing Arts Showcase (13-16 September 2011) is a unique event that provides you with an unprecedented opportunity to present extracts of your latest production, or new and developing work, to a delegate audience of national and international promoters, producers, programmers, artistic directors and venue managers.
Our aim is to increase your touring opportunities and potential for partnerships and collaborations.
At 2009's Showcase, Lisa Hammond and Rachel Spence performed No Idea as a work in progress and secured seven out of the 10 venues confirmed for their spring/summer UK tour. Similarly, musicians The Fish Police were booked to launch their new album at New York's Lincoln Centre after being seen by Bill Bragin, the venue's Director of Public Programming.
This year you can apply online for the first time. You can also download the decibel artist application form and guidance notes for reference purposes.
Performance strands
Showcase is open to applications from all performance artforms of the highest calibre. This includes musicians (solo artists and groups), theatre companies and practitioners, street and live arts performers, dancers and dance companies, carnival and spoken word artists.
There are three strands in which you can present your work:
1) Tour ready - a 30 minute extract of work that can be immediately scheduled into a programme and will be ready for touring from October 2011.
2) Work in progress - a 15 minute presentation followed by a 15-minute question and answer session of work that has undergone research and development but requires further work, rehearsal and possibly external input for completion.
3) Pitching sessions - a 10-15 minute session presenting and discussing work in the early conceptual stages of development that seeks input on creative and production elements.

Call for proposals for new music at London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games
PRS for Music Foundation has launched an exciting new programme to put new music centre-stage of the Cultural Olympiad in 2012. The brainchild of private patrons, David Cohen and Jillian Barker, New Music 20x12 will support 20 new works each lasting 12 minutes.
It will be delivered by the PRS for Music Foundation in partnership with the BBC, LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) and Sound and Music.
The call for proposals invites music organisations, festivals, ensembles, promoters or venues from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to present ideas for new work, in any musical genre, that they would like to commission from a UK- based composer.
Each work will premiere in 2012 and receive at least 2 additional performances. A panel of experts, chaired by Roger Wright, Controller BBC Radio 3 and Director, BBC Proms, will be announced later this year and will select the best 20 works following the deadline for applications on Friday 1 October 2010.
All selected works will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and some may be considered for inclusion in other official events relating to London 2012. In addition to financial support for the commissions, New Music 20x12 will include networking and professional development opportunities for the selected composers and musicians.
