Dada-Exchange - Feedback

As the artists progress through Dada-Exchange, we have been capturing some of their comments about their experiences...

"For me, it (Dada-Exchange) has allowed me to form Professional relationships with Arts Organisations and their contacts.  The process has been insightful in terms of opportunities, current Disability Arts practices, and discovering new skills.  It has opened doors which I didn't know where there, or could even find a year ago....the Exchange programme helped me to focus on which of my skills and interests are the most important and productive for my future."

"It revitalised me, boosting my efforts to create art for myself."

"Dada Exchange worked well for me."

"I can't realise it enough - I think getting involved with Dada-South is the best move I have made in the pursuit of my practice.  I live in a funny world that's not mainstream and not totally un-mainstream...sort of a void in-between, can't quite work out where I fit.  But getting involved with this agency is the beginning of something important - embracing the other side of myself.  From pushing that side of me away, I became intolerant of disability - and intolerant of me.... I will never make that mistake again.  Ever.  This is so important - an inward journey.  A landmark."

"Useful, Informative and Challenging."

"It has been a good reminder that there are many of us, with our similar frustrations, wonderful goals and capabilities, with big ‘voices' and much to express and supreme ways of expressing it.    And that I am happy to be part of this group.
I did enjoy the afternoon session as it was very engaging and insightful in terms of discovering what other artists do, how they work and what stage we are all at in our creative careers."

"It was good to meet other artists involved with Dada-Exchange...refreshing and very useful to have someone who has an understanding of your disability and the art world to talk things through with."

"What a great mix of people all so strong and personable and unique. It was exciting process to see who was left in the room in the afternoon and identifiy each other.... Dada South has been incredible help and a journey for me to myself."

"It was good to get a sense of all involved."

"I have realised that most of the others in the group have similar stories, problems and are all working on resolving them and moving on with our art."

"Just had to tell you that I had a fabulous '1 to 1' session with Sally this afternoon in London; she's amazing."

"I hope that message might give a measure of how delightful my first session with Sally was.  I felt that we achieved such a lot within the allotted time, focusing on a little to my past, but mainly on the way ahead for me and for me to set out realistic goals."

"Sally is naturally intuitive and an excellent listener. I believe that as my first experience with a Dada-South mentor I could not have wished for a more positive and uplifting encounter. Thank you! It's as if I've now located a centre to which I can move out from."

"I have had great support and information from Liz and I am so glad we reconnected.  I feel she really 'gets' what is happening with my creative thoughts and processes, which is fantastic because I don't feel so isolated with them and can discuss where to go with them in my practice."

"I have found all my sessions constructive, and conducted very professionally.  Lynn maintains a consistent understanding of my overall aims and ambitions, and  briefs herself ready for each meeting.   I find that Lynn  guides without being either  forceful or judgemental.  In particular, she encourages a full exploration of my plan of action, as agreed as previous meetings, or relates this to all apsects of our ongoing discussions.  I regard every session as the correct balance between a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and an objective, detatched approach."

"My experience with Sarah has been very good and strong, I feel that this is great way to developing your art form and process."

"David Dixon has been extremely helpful.  I have met with him, a number of times.  He is very approachable and a friendly person.  He has had lots of different ideas to help my art.  He has given me many suggestions on what to explore further and his advice has been invaluable."
