Jane Galloway

Trustee

Jane starting her career in the NHS, nursing for 5 years, then moved into the challenging world of business. With five years in retail store management behind her, Jane moved over into the 'not for profit' sector in 1994, with her first appointment as an Appeal Director for Macmillan Cancer Relief where she successfully rose to the challenge of raising £1.2 million needed for a new cancer care centre in Glamorgan, Wales.

Further fundraising, marketing and communications experience was gained from working as an Appeal Director at a London University Teaching Hospital, coordinating fundraising and launching a major capital appeal. In 1997 Jane went on to work as a marketing director and then as chief executive for a national conservation charity.

Jane's skills in the sector were also broadened in 2004, when she was appointed as director of communications and fundraising, for a national disability organisation and subsequently as a consultant for a large firm of specialist charity consultants.

Jane has always had an active interest in leadership issues and team building and was fortunate in attending an Initial Windsor Leadership Trust course in 2003, when she gained a more through understanding of emotional and intelligent leadership and exactly what it is that makes a good leader.

Jane is a mother of three (almost fledged) children and in her spare time an active artist, which is another outlet for her creative talents. It was the artistic side and personal experience of disability, that led Jane to join the board of Dada South in 2007, a charity set up to raise the profile of deaf and disabled artists in the region and create new and exciting opportunities.

Kate Hasted

Trustee

I grew up in a village called St Mawes in Cornwall. At the age of 16 I moved to Tunbridge Wells in Kent where I studied art and found that I had a passion for photography and textiles. Following this I attended The Surrey Institute of Art and Design where I studied for a BA Honours in Textile Design.  On returning home from university I set up my own textile studio where I practised selling designs both nationally and internationally.  During this time I worked as an arts tutor for a variety of community arts projects and education providers.

Following this I worked for an organisation called CARE which developed my interest in disability arts and inspired a trip around the world in 2007.  For part of this I visited disability arts organisations in Australia.

Last year I worked with a friend to create a short documentary film for and about the work of the Sevenoaks District Partnership Group for people with a learning disability. I now work with the same friend under ‘Arts Together' which aims to provide arts workshops and opportunities for everyone in the community.

I currently create textile designs for the New York fashion market and I am developing ideas for a body of artwork that will explore identity and individuality. I am hoping to work with a diverse range of people from my local community to source information that I can use to develop the art works.

For the past year I have worked at Voluntary Action West Kent where I am a development officer.  In this role I have worked on a variety of community projects to include disability, older people and volunteering. The main focus of the work I do presently is working with people who have a learning disability to support them into arts and leisure opportunities and also supporting people to create their person centred plans.
